Professor Timothy Murphy is a law graduate of University College Cork and the University of Warwick and he graduated with a doctorate in theology from St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth, Ireland.

He has previously held law faculty positions in the UK, France, Ireland, Iceland and Malaysia. Among his publications are Law and Justice in Community (with Garrett Barden, Oxford University Press, 2010) and, as editor, Western Jurisprudence (Thomson Round Hall, Dublin, 2004).
His research interests in the fields of jurisprudence and political philosophy include normative pluralism and the concepts of justice, authority, and the common good."
